Morning by Morning

How do you begin your morning?

Read Isaiah 50:4-9.

“Morning by morning he wakens – wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught (vs. 4).” In the hymn, “Great is thy Faithfulness,” we sing, “Morning by morning, new mercies I see.” How do you begin your morning? Is it a slow drag out of bed and then a frantic rush out the door? Do you take a few moments to thank God for the promise of a new day and dedicate yourself to being a blessing in some way? If so, how does your practice affect the way you approach each new day? If not, what new practice could you introduce into the first moments of the day?

A suggestion would be to memorize Psalm 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” Or maybe you could print the Wesley Covenant prayer and keep it someplace where you will see it first thing in the morning.
