Here, we have John the Baptist’s account of Jesus’ baptism. In twice calling him “the Lamb of God,” John seems to already understand who Jesus is to be for the world. And we get the sense that John’s followers were so anxious for a Messiah, they were ready to believe Jesus was the One. When two of them ask Jesus where he is staying, he responds, “Come and see.”
What space does Jesus occupy in your thought, speech, and action? How willing are you to invite Jesus to “come and see” every part of yourself? What parts would you rather he not see?
In prayer, offer those parts in confession and find assurance in God’s promise of everlasting mercy and grace.
