Here again, we are reminded of the importance of keeping God’s commandments. The emphasis isn’t on some type of punishment or eternal damnation. It’s about living a full, meaningful, satisfied life, reconciled with the One who offers that life to us as a gift of love. Later, Jesus would be asked what the greatest commandment is. His answer is, “Love God. Love People.” It’s simple, but not always easy.
How could you do better at loving God? What people do you struggle to love? What thoughts, words, or actions in your life demonstrate your love for God and for God’s people?
