Spiritual Economics

Paul is fund-raising for his ministry and laying out an economic plan for the churches that is both equitable and mutually generous.

Read 2 Corinthians 8:7-15.

In this passage, Paul is fund-raising for his ministry and laying out an economic plan for the churches that is both equitable and mutually generous. In verses 10-11, Paul encourages those to whom he is writing to move from wanting to be generous to taking the first step and from there, actually following through. It seems many of us get stuck in the great idea stage, but fail to even share that idea with someone else, let alone take any steps towards bringing the idea into fruition.

Can you think of any recent examples of that in your own life? Is there a project you have thought about taking on, but have failed to do anything about? Have you had a great idea about a ministry in the church that you’ve kept to yourself? Could it be the Holy Spirit inspiring your thought and stirring you?

Consider what your first step might be and in prayer, ask the Spirit to empower and motivate you to take it.
